So long HD-DVD. As many tech news followers have been expecting, Toshiba finally waved the white flag and made it official. Blue-Ray wins and HD-DVD gets the BetaMax treatment.
“We have reviewed the overall strategy for the HD DVD and concluded that it is best that we not further develop, manufacture, and market HD DVD players and recorders”, explained Atsutoshi Nishida, president and CEO of the Toshiba Corporation.

I guess I am glad that I didn’t own an HD-DVD player or any HD-DVD disks. There is a reason for that though. I follow the bleeding edge of tech, but I don’t buy bleeding edge. Blue-Ray? Maybe one day, but I need a large, High Def, screen to watch it on first.
R.I.P. HD-DVD
