WordPress 2.5 w00t!

It’s here, it’s here! WordPress version 2.5 is here! I have been looking forward to this upgrade for some time now. WordPress.com got the new code a while ago and they have finally released the new code for the .org self hosted people.

My love for WordPress continues to grow and this update really hits the spot. The admin section is completely different and has some really well designed and implimented elements. I had recently moved to offline post building with Windows Live Writer because the built-in WYSIWYG editor in the older version of WordPress left me desiring more than I was willing to put up with. I had to use it for some posts, but in general, I stuck to WLW.

I am typing out my first post n v2.5 and find it to be a MUCH better experience so far. The multimedia importing and embedding features have been totally blown out and redone. More options and more flexible insertion is the word here. They have also built-in a gallery element that looks to be a nice and simple way to get more than one picture loaded with little to no trouble.

I guess it’s time to start working on a theme re-build, it’s been a little while since the last look and feel update and what better way to celebrate WordPress 2.5 than to spend hours hacking code for a new look!

Thanks WordPress, 2.5 is certainly welcomed and I am looking forward to using it whilst trying not to break it!
