For some, the internet is a wondrous place filled with an enormous stockpile of the best adult entertainment available. To others, easy access to that stockpile is a disaster waiting to happen.

ScrubIT is a FREE recursive DNS server that regulates what comes into your home or business. ScrubIT “scrubs” the internet so you don’t have to be concerned about what your family members or employees will be confronted with.
We currently profile several million websites and by default block out any pornographic, phishing, and many other potentially harmful sites.
Setting up ScrubIT is simple, you either log into your router and edit your DNS entries, or you can download a small utility that will set your computer to use the ScrubIT DNS servers.
Instead of loading software that end users have to manage, ScrubIT is a set it and forget it kind of solution. You ARE turning your control over to ScrubIT, but for most users hands off is actually preferred because it requires no management. For the geeks in the crowd that don’t want all control to be taken, they have a beta program that you can sign up for that will allow you to customize your ScrubIT settings. The beta program may turn into a paid service, but hopefully those that are in the beta will get access for free or for cheap.
My take on content blocking solutions is this. Some adults are totally against filtering of any kind, thats fine, you have that right. Even parents have written off these solutions as “not a replacement to good parenting”, which I agree with the good parenting part, but disagree because I think neither half is better than the whole. Using a filtering tool on the family computer is a responsible and sound way to help you do your job as a parent. Don’t get me wrong, ScrubIT, like all other filtering solutions, is not perfect. If you want to get around it, you can, but it helps, and sometimes thats all that is needed. There are A LOT of people in this world that struggle with internet porn addictions and if nothing else, tools like ScrubIT add an extra layer, or buffer, between the user and the “entertainment”.

PS – I recently blogged about Smorty, the get paid for blogging service. This post has nothing to do with Smorty or getting paid to blog. I think my review came across a little like I was selling ScubIT, but I’m not. I just happen to believe in this service and think others may benefit from knowing about it. Concerning Smorty, I won’t be posting any Smorty sponsored content here. I want the content on this site to come from me and me only, not from me sponsored by $$.
