I have been working on this for a while and am ready to share it with everyone. I love my current job and don’t plan on going anywhere, a little disclaimer incase co-workers are stalking me. I do, however, like the idea of making some additional income. I have been a computer geek for a dozen years and think I need to do something with the ability. I originally came up with the name RVA Tech Support, but I was talking to my wife one night about it and she managed to come up with a much better name. River City Tech Support!
I took some time to develop my ideas about how to structure the business and what to offer. I went from super complicated, like the big box tech nerds, to very simple, which is what I decided to stick with.
I am happy to report that I was able to get my site setup on WordPress. I am really happy that I was able to take something I already knew a lot about and adapt it to a "static" site. The best part about running a static site with WordPress is that you still have a HUGE open source community behind you. As any blogger or web geek knows, a site is never "done". I am sure RCTS will fall victim to the same abuse I have put Kamen Lee Dot Com through, design wise, but I hope to keep the look and feel about the same so it won’t confuse people.
Check out the site: River City Tech Support Dot Com
Aside from the site, I also had to get a business card built. This didn’t take me too long to design, but I did take the time to build my own so the card was as similar to the site as I could make it. I have them ordered, so hopefully the printers will do a good job and the cards will look just like this.
So there it is, River City Tech Support is going live! I already have a few things going that should help get things started in the beginning. I hope to grow the business slowly and find the balance between broke and insanity that I am looking for.
I know a bunch of web geeks are going to be reading this, so if you have any suggestions or thoughts, leave a comment or send me an email. I am all for constructive feedback.
